Saeed Owairan: Saudi Arabia vs. Belgium, 1994


A goal from one of the minnows of the 1994 World Cup in the USA. Saudi Arabia, not fancied by many actually ended up making the knockout stages.

Saeed Owairan's goal against Belgium was enough to see them win 1-0 and progress through. Owairan picked up the ball deep inside his own and set off on a mazy run towards the Belgium. Owairan demonstrated the importance of keeping the ball close when dribbling; the Belgium defenders just couldn't get the ball. Owairan's tricky run ended with a delightful chip over Michel Preud'homme in the Belgium. A memorable individual goal.
